Or, "How I hate it when coincidences make my hopeful imagination run rampant..."

However spiritual a person I am (or amn't), I'm not a real believer in forecasting the future. I will occasionally read well-written horoscopes, or fiddle with tarot cards not because they tell the future, but because they can give me a framework to look at my situation that isn't too deeply inside my own head.

But then I get trends...

Last week's "Free Will Astrology":
"And the raw truth as I see it is that you are more likely than all the other signs of the zodiac to prosper in 2010, even if the economy as a whole continues to limp along. The next four weeks will be an ideal time to launch a master plan to take advantage of this potential."

Then, two nights ago, after an order of Chinese food I opened a fortune cookie:
"A new business venture is on the horizon."
(Heck, just the fact that this is an actual fortune, instead of some zenny witticism, took me aback some.)

Yesterday, I found and applied to an open job at a local game company.

Today, I discovered that I am a vague acquaintance of someone who knows folks fairly highly placed in said company.

An hour ago, I send off the message, "Pretty please introduce me!"

Now, I beat my head against a wall - Don't get your hopes up, fool!

It's going to be a long afternoon.
