Holiday Spirit
Dec. 16th, 2003 10:43 pmSo, I think I've seen my first corporate expression of genuine holiday spirit for this season.
My Lady works at a pretty nice place. They had an office holiday party over the weekend, which we couldn't attend, because my Lady had an SCA event at which she was set to do a dance performance. When she returned to work Monday, they had a bag of gifts for her from the party. Not too terribly surprising. What got me was that there was a bag for me, too.
It isn't like I work there. Sure, I've visited a few times, and I've probably managed to say, "Hello" to most of the folks who work there. But there's only a couple of them with whom I've ever held what I might call an extended conversation. And it wasn't even a token bag. It seems like they treated me about as generously as any of their staff.
I'd go as far to say that is seems like they put a little thought into personalizing it. In addition to the usual nice things you'd give a gent you don't know are an item or two that seem to have a geeky bent. Considering that I didn't expect anything at all, I'd call that pretty darned cool of them.
In a time of commercialism and corporate anonymity, I think this all earns the clinic a Santa Seal of Approval :)
