So, with my Lady off visiting her mother and sister for a couple days, I thought I'd spend some of the me-time watching some of the superhero movies we missed in the theaters - we clearly have better things to do when together, but on my own I feel less resistance to utterly wasting my time, I guess. I went out and rented Superman Returns, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Ghost Rider. All of which got mixed reviews from either critics, my friends, or both.

Anyway, I got home with the DVDs, and found that Ghost Rider was just starting on one of our movie channels. I took this as a little annoying, and a bit of a waste on my part to have not checked what was on tonight before renting things. I should instead have taken it as a warning that the film was not worth paying for, and that if I was so bent on seeing it, the Universe was at least going to try to help me avoid the cost as much as possible.

Thankfully, I wasn't planning on using those two hours for anything useful anyway. But darn, that was a stinker.

So, as noted before, Ghost Rider was awful. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer wasn't bad, but it sure wasn't gripping. Superman Returns was a bit slow, but better, and it made me think a bit.

So, there's this scene in the movie... )
