But not in the way you'd normally expect me to mean that.

Actually, it is still too early tell if it is going to really suck, but it'll suck. Or at least the shiny new shop vac will suck. Or, I hope it does, 'cause it seems the best way to get the water out of the basement.

Today we have been introduced to this particular joy of home ownership. We had some hefty rains in the autumn, so while there were signs that there had been water in the basement at some time in the past, I expected that it required some fairly specific circumstances. I think the frozen-ground and heavy rain combination might be it. Which, happily, might mean it is preventable in the future - it may mean I need to extend some gutter spouts, and double check the grading at the foundation outside the wet area of the basement.

And, of course, this will give us some impetus to get rid of some of the crap that we put down in the basement when we moved. Crap that we don't need, but might like to have, is easy to justify holding on to. That same crap, soglified, is less attractive.

Anyway, off to suckage.
