What light through yonder window breaks?

Some movies, you just don't hear much about. Damned shame, that.

Take for example, the following movie - The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino as Shylock.

I kid you not - here's the IMDB page and the Rottentomatoes page as proof.

It went into limited theatrical release on December 29th. I'm certainly not deaf to the theatres, and I've never heard of it. Luckily, it's still out there to be seen. But what other movies get made, shown, and forgotten, and never get seen in the video store? Heck, how many good Shakespeare's alone have I missed?

New York Times and New Yorker both gave it excellent reviews.

The limited release was to make it eligible for the 2004 Oscars; the real release date is later this month. It will make it here.
