Reference suggestions...

I have a solid enough grounding in older HTML - I learned it back before there were specific editors for the stuff. However, the only reference I have is a text that predates styles, spans, and whole bunch of other stuff that I ought to have a handle on these days for work. Anyone have suggestions?
