I seem to be in the market for a basic text on HTML and web-page building.

I have a solid enough grounding in older HTML - I learned it back before there were specific editors for the stuff. However, the only reference I have is a text that predates styles, spans, and whole bunch of other stuff that I ought to have a handle on these days for work. Anyone have suggestions?

O'Reilly has a book devoted entirely to CSS.

I used "HTML for the World Wide Web with XHTML and CSS: Visual QuickStart Guide, Fifth Edition" by Elizabeth Castro for a class last year and it was rather good.

Not as good for learning, but I find it worthwhile to use the official standards pages on w3.org, for looking up the fine details on a regular basis...
