So, a few years ago, my mom had a minor stroke. It left her just a touch scatterbrianed, occasionally needign tosearch for a word, and so on. A change, but nothing tragic, thank the Powers that Be.
My Mom has always been a fine seamstress. And these days she finds sewing projects to be therapudic. They are good eye-hand coordination exercises (and the action also helps with her touch of arthritis), and they act as a sort of puzzle-solving, mind focusing exercise as well.
I play larps on occasion. A few months ago, she produced a frock-coat for a late 1700's pirate costume. The coat would have been stunning if she'd had more than felt to work with, and more than two days to produce it. As it was, it still got complements. More recently, she whipped up a costume for a Star Wars Jedi Knight character I was playing.
And now, she's asking to do more - if I have any ideas on soem general-use items I might want. What more could a costumer ask for?
So, now I have to think hard on that - pieces that can be made to cover a reasonably wide variety of costumes. Tricky, that...
