Okay, usually I don't go to Amazon.com for humor, but this is just superb.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I1X6PM

It is, as far as I can tell, a simple 5' length of ethernet cable. Usually available for $5 to $10. On sale for you audiophiles for $500.

But the comedy doesn't stop there - read the customer reviews! Including such jewels as:

"A caution to people buying these: if you do not follow the "directional markings" on the cables, your music will play backwards"

and

"If I could use a rusty boxcutter to carve a new orifice in my body that's compatible with this link cable, I would already be doing it. I can just imagine the pure musical goodness that would flow through this cable into the wound and fill me completely -- like white, holy light. Holding this cable in my hands actually makes me feel that much closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. "

and

"I suffer from a rare R/F allergy which makes it nearly impossible for me to leave my lead lined sarcophagus (unless there is a power outage). Generally i can only listen to music on an accoustic gramaphone and hence my library consists entirely of John Phillips Suza. That all changed when i got the Denon AKDL1 dream maker. "

In the section of "Tags associated with this project," people list rip-off, cheat, etc. But one of them is fascinating:

"Harry Potter."

Wow. I expect Denon to be expensive, but that goes completely beyond the pale. I'm really curious about what "adverse effects from vibration" other cables are prone to.

What I *really* love, though, is the price:
List price: $500.99
Price: $499.99
Oooh -- a whole 0.2% discount...
